Hanging lamp

The hanging lamp is the little brother of the leaning lamp and best described as a subtle collaboration between a hand turned wooden knob, a wire and a steel light fixture.
This lamp is produced in very small numbers, hence, the wood selected to make the knob varies. The image shows a knob made of wood from a locally sourced common laburnum, better known as a Golden Rain tree.

Dimensions: wooden knob 10×4.5 cm / light fixture 10×3.5 cm / Only suitable for European electricity network.

This leaning lamp is a fully handcrafted lighting fixture made by Amsterdam craftsmen. The blackened steel frame is bent by hand in a mould and is designed to elevate and ‘embrace’ the frosted bulb and guide the wire. The steel work is finished in a durable black powder coat.

Dimensions: 160x25x25 cm / Only suitable for European electricity network.

“This is a frame design that carefully considers the aesthetic impact of the wire, which results in the wire appearing as a seamless extension or continuation of the frame itself – an aspect of this floor lamp I really enjoy.”

This 60 m2 apartment is situated in an early 20th century social housing project build in expressionist style by architect Piet Kramer. The Amsterdam School style was often applied to working-class housing estates, local institutions and schools.

The distinct architecture provides an impressive canvas for the interior. An L-shaped cabinet in the middle of the space functions as a separation between the bedroom and living room and houses a wardrobe, book cabinet and small office.

Restaurant Hemelse Modder (named after their famous desert: dark and white chocolate mousse with vanilla cream.) was founded in 1984 and is located in the centre of Amsterdam, near the Nieuwmarkt.
With limited resources we managed to transform the existing space into a more atmospheric restaurant.
